(Washington, DC) Today, Mayor Bowser issued the following statement in response to the introduction of H.R. 6, the Dream and Promise Act.
“DC’s Dreamers and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders are as much a part of our city as every other resident. Nobody should live in fear in the place they call home. I have repeatedly called on Congress to protect our Dreamers and extend the TPS designation for the thousands of Salvadorans who have lived legally in DC for years. Dreamers and TPS holders are integral parts of our communities, creating jobs and growing our economy, attending our schools and universities, and helping us build safer, stronger neighborhoods. I fully support H.R. 6 for not only protecting our residents, but for also creating a pathway to citizenship for these aspiring Americans.”
