Washington, DC – The Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (OAPIA) today announced a citywide campaign to promote greater awareness of the District’s diverse Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. The campaign aims to promote the contributions of AAPIs in the District to educate and inform the general population about this diverse community.

The campaign’s theme, I Am AAPI In DC, will first be promoted through a blog featuring user-contributed profiles of District AAPI residents and others who make positive contributions throughout the city. Other methods of promotion will include television PSAs, podcasts, and social media components.

"It is important to recognize the numerous contributions of all shapes and sizes the AAPI community makes in the District," said OAPIA Director Soohyun "Julie" Koo. "There are so many interesting stories and causes AAPIs are involved in throughout the District. I hope more we will see more engagement and interest in the AAPI community from the general public. I am very excited for this campaign."
