Capacity Building

OAPIA is committed to building the capacity of community-based organizations (CBO) that provide services to the underserved AAPI community by:
  • Connecting CBOs to various organizations that provide technical assistance and resources
  • Seeking opportunities for public or private partnerships that may benefit CBOs, and
  • Facilitating seminars and other training mechanisms to support their development and sustainability.

For more information on OAPIA capacity building projects, please contact Andrew Chang at (202) 727-5560 or email andrew.chang@dc.gov.

Grant Opportunities

OAPIA is committed to providing funding for community-based organizations (CBO) that provide supplemental government services to the District’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. OAPIA achieves this through OAPIA Community Grants, which began in FY2007, when a number of Asian American and Pacific Islander-led CBOs and the Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander Community Development requested that the Mayor support funds to be distributed competitively to AAPI-serving organizations.
