Goals and Objectives (cont.)
  • OAPIA provides assistance with cases involving APIs, including informational inquiries, housing, employment, safety, and business issues. Language interpretation services are also provided at OAPIA-organized events.
  • OAPIA encourages API community members with limited English proficiency to participate in civic affairs and government programs in their neighborhoods.
  • OAPIA advocates for the rights of the API community members.
  • OAPIA also works with different government agencies as well as the ethnic media for citywide publications.

OAPIA believes that empowering youths today helps make responsible adults in the future. API youths often face difficult issues such as language barriers, cultural alienation, peer pressure, gang involvement, and substance abuse. OAPIA creates platforms to motivate and engage API youths by organizing several workshops and other fun activities.

OAPIA has two Outreach Coordinators who can communicate in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese.
