District’s Asian-Owned Firms Increase From 2002 - 2007

The U.S. Census Bureau released its findings from the 2007 Survey of Business Owners last week indicating Asian-owned firms made up six percent of all firms in the District, a 36 percent increase since 2002.

The 2010 United States Census data, released last week, indicates the Asian population grew 38.6% between 2000 and 2010, in the District of Columbia.

The Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (OAPIA) provides District agencies with technical assistance and guidance on providing language assistance to Asian and Pacific Islander (API) constituents with Limited English Proficiency (LEP).
